The Gospel
We are made for communion—with God, with one another, with ourselves, and with the non-human creation. Yet we live in a world where we find ourselves estranged from the fullness of this communion. The good news of the gospel is that in Jesus Christ our separation is overcome and God’s purpose for communion is fulfilled. A new creation has begun, and we are invited to participate in it.

In Jesus Christ, God enters fully into our human life, sharing our vulnerability, suffering, and mortality. Through his life, Jesus reveals God’s love and shows us what it means to live as we were created to live. Through his death, he bears the full weight of our estrangement and puts an end to its power over us. And through his resurrection, God defeats death—the ultimate form of estrangement—and begins the renewal of all creation.
The good news invites us to trust in God’s work in Jesus Christ and to live in its light—loving God and our neighbors, seeking justice, pursuing peace, practicing forgiveness, and caring for creation.
The Christian hope is that what God has accomplished in Jesus Christ, already made visible in his resurrection, will one day be fully realized throughout creation. What we now experience in part, God will one day bring to completion.
